What Society Has Left Behind
Built: 1929
Closed: 1989
Status: Demolished
The Clearwater Finishing Plant was originally built in 1929 to add color and design to textiles. After going bankrupt in 1989, leaving behind thousands of drums of chemicals and dyes, the site was declared a Superfund site by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
The owner was nice enough to let us photograph the place on several occasions in the hopes of one day starting a historical museum for the site, but local arsonists had different plans.
